DPI&F has received lots of enquiries from members of the communities wanting to know specific names and addresses of infected properties. Due to privacy reasons, DPI&F will not provide these details and believe it is inappropriate to do so. This policy also ensures that property owners who have infected horses are not harassed by local residents, something which has unfortunately happened to some IPs.
Please be assured that if you live in an infected area, your local Equine Influenza Community Resource Centre will keep you in the loop with what's happening. Our teams can do this quicker if you register your horses and property with the DPI&F, and you can do this by filling out a quick online form.
In many ways, the fact that DPI&F will not identify specific properties is irrelevant. Equine Influenza is rapidly spreading and all members of the community, whether they live in the same street as an infected property or 10 kms away, have the same specific responsibilities in helping to stop the spread. In you live in an Infected Area, such as in the Brisbane western suburbs, you need to take the same precautions on every property that has a horse - regardless of whether it's 'infected' or not.
The DPI&F website includes lots of these tips about how to stop the spread and this information is also being delivered as part of letterbox drops throughout the EI Red Zone. You can also check with your local EI Community Resource Centre.
