NSW
There are 1063 infected properties with a total of 9763 horses; 359 dangerous contact properties with 2720 horses; and 267 suspect properties with 1623 horses. The disease front now extends from the Camden area in the south, to Raymond Terrace (near Maitland) and up the Hunter Valley to Narrabri and Moree. While infection in this area continues to spread, the other Restricted Areas appear to be contained, with little or no lateral spread.
The radius of the Restricted Area around Cooyal (near Mudgee) has been increased from 10 km to 15 km.
Performances at the world renowned ‘El Caballo Blanco’ horse show in north-western Sydney were suspended by the owners, when three stars of the show displayed clinical signs of equine influenza. The highly popular shows will recommence when the horses have recovered.
